Classic (RecPlus) Program

The Rec Plus or known as the “Classic Division” is administered by the St. Mary's Soccer (SMS) organization and includes teams from SMS, Waldorf Soccer Club (WSC), La Plata Youth Soccer Association (LPYSA), Calvert Soccer Association (CSA), and Bryans Road Soccer Association (BRSA), participating at a raised level of play, while keeping travel at a minimum, for boys/co-ed and girls teams ranging from U9–U15.

The Classic Program is focused on player development, discovery and creativity over winning and losing in a fun, low-cost, competitive environment. The Program provides experienced coaches with a minimum of four seasons coaching in the Recreational Program and with at least an E-license. The Classic teams stay together for a full year, allowing players to develop chemistry with one another and allowing coaches the ability to introduce more advanced concepts. In the fall and spring seasons, the teams generally participate in pre-season scrimmages, an eight (8) game regular season (4 home games and 4 away games), and a post-season, single elimination tournament. In addition, the teams train indoors during the winter and compete in local futsal leagues.
The Program has successfully served as a gateway for players to matriculate into higher level travel/select soccer.  The buzz about the success of Waldorf SC’s Classic Program is spreading. The Club continues to receive inquiries from parents from all over Southern Maryland, which bodes well for the future success of the Classic Program. Tryouts are held yearly in May.
